Learning music teaches us how to perceive and appreciate beauty. Even if one does not pursue a life involved with the creation of music, having it as a part of one’s life is essential to being human. I believe that if someone considers themselves a musician, it is essential that they also teach music, passing that knowledge and understanding to others.
Everyone can make music, whether it’s virtuosically playing an instrument, singing a simple folk song, or just clapping one’s hands. That said, it is always important to meet a student where they are, and bring them along a a pace that works for their particular learning style. Music is a collaborative art. We learn from each other.
Since August 2019, I have operated a private studio on South Mendenhall near UNCG. Here I have more space and available technology to better save my students, with convenient free parking.
I'm a little different from most guitar teachers. I spent a few years as an elementary school music specialist. Because of this, I am able to get positive results with younger students, where many teachers set a minimum age around 10 or 11. Of course, I've also had great results with older children and adults.
Acoustic or electric; guitar, ukulele, or bass; whatever style. I'm sure I can help you reach your musical goals. I can also work with you on songwrtiting and music theory. Consulting on instrument selection is also available.
